Day two … this time no fast-on-his-feet Ramazan,
but an excellent lead. As I sat eating breakfast of fresh baked bread
and local pine-honey, I wondered what delightful surprises today had in
store for me. Turkey
is one of the few countries left within four hours flying of the UK to still
hold it’s intense magic and mystery.
Dalaman was my destination and armed with clear
instructions of where to find the office, I set off in my little
fiat. We putted up and down the winding mountain roads with the
panoramic view of cosmopolitan Marmaris spread
out behind.
One hour into the journey and I saw a sign that was too tempting to pass
… Koycegiz

Now it might not
mean anything to you … and you’ll rarely see it in any holiday
brochure, but take it from me, it’s one of those rare and special
spots on the planet!
You won’t find tourist pubs with cinema screen TV’s or football
shirts hanging from the rafters. But what you will find is pure
unadulterated bliss.
If you ever wondered what heaven may look like … take yourself along to the lake here and
sit. I’m not going to tell you anymore because
I’ll spoil it. But I will say, this
was the special place of the Sultans who would come here for healing.
And Lake Koycegiz
hasn’t lost its aphrodisiac touch hundreds of years on!
As I drove down through the koy (village in
Turkish) I wondered if there could possibly be an English speaking emlak here. I know so many of my artistic and
spiritual friends would just adore this idyllic place. Plus a big
bonus, it’s only 20 minutes from Dalaman Airport.
