In years gone by Dalaman
was only known as the uninspiring ‘airport’ town… that ramshackle area that you
drove through
in the dark of night to
get to your glorious beach resorts further along the coast. Now you need to think again!
Developers
have done their homework and are flocking to this region in droves - apartment
blocks are going up all over with swanky pools and enticing facilities.
It’s
time to stop and ask your self Why?
The
fact is Developers do their research. Poirot eat your heart out… there’s no
fly’s on these guys where making money is concerned!
What’s the point in injecting cash into an
area where there’s no forthcoming action! This should be striking alarm bells
with you too.
What exactly have they found out?
Dalaman
was recently designated a Tourism area which means significant amounts of cash
is going to land here in the future.
The
‘big boys’ are moving in from Ankara… aim to create a magnificent VIP golf
project set in 500 acres from the Ak Deniz site at Fevziye right up the Dalaman
creek to a spot behind the Pegasus hotel.
In fact work is already underway… the vision is that of similar
prestigious golfing country club projects in
private
jetty to moor your yachts, artificial lake, luxury villas, sublime facilities…
and 5 star hotel bringing 1100 beds and 200 apart rooms. Date for finishing is 2008.
This
year work also begins on the Marti and Marina hotel adjacent to this area … big
project bringing another 2000 beds.
The
Turkish government is also looking on a new development plan with the further
golfing projects in mind … also in the Fevziye area. They have already released plans for three
areas in the locality… one for a ‘Golf city’, second a ‘Health resort’ and
third a ‘
Plans
are also afoot to build a thermal retirement centre plus hotel spa resort with
capacity for 10,000 guests! This area is
well known for healing sulphur springs.
I’ve actually met families that have relocated here just for this
purpose. Amazing results on psoriasis!
2007
is the year the new Dalaman Marina project (three new marinas are drafted for
this area) kicks off!
The
expansion of Dalaman airport… even British
airways has now started a scheduled service and you can be sure they do
their homework!
The
Dalaman/Sarigerme region offers one of the shortest airport transfers in

this area actually have a beach? You bet
it does … a blue flag sandy 6km stretch … 8km from the airport at
Sarigerme.
This
year also sees the completion of the much awaited Gocek tunnel … no more scary
hair-pin drives! A 15 minute drive from
Dalaman and you’re right in ‘St Tropez’
But
be warned if you were to visit this developing area
around Dalaman now, don’t expect anything visually tantalizing (unless you pop
up to the Dalaman hills or down to Sarigerme beach). You need to have your rosy coloured specs on
and crystal ball in hand… just transport yourself to the land of dreams where
the developers’ mind resides. If you
wait til their dreams materialize you’ll be paying premium prices. Buy now … and you’ll be tee-heeing (Sorry…
couldn’t help that golfing pun!) in years to come!
